What’s in the box?
Since 2002, Saturday Writers have been living their motto, “Writers Encouraging Writers.” In 2019, the group decided to extend their encouragement to the youth in the community by holding a writing contest in honor of late member, William A. Spradley.
The year 2019 marks the first William A. Spradley Youth Writing Contest Anthology. Writers were inspired with the prompt: Imagine a giant box is delivered to your front door with your name on it. Write about what's inside. With over 150 entries from writers in 3rd – 8th grade, this volume contains 18 of the best stories. The William A. Spradley Youth Writing Contest brought in over 150 entries from students in 3rd – 8th grade. Co-Chairs Sue Fritz & Nicki Jacobsmeyer had the pleasure of reading each story based on the prompt: Imagine a giant box is delivered to your front door with your name on it.
