Craft of Writing Book Club

Writing is a learned art.

In 2025, we kicked off a new members-only reading and discussion group focused on books about the craft and business of writing.  Whether you’re a fan of thrilling fiction, thought-provoking non-fiction, or soul-stirring poetry, there’s something for everyone. 

The group will meet in person at Spencer Library each regular speaker month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with each meeting bringing discussion on a different selected book.

Our initial meeting (January 25) will in part be devoted to planning the group's organizational structure and discussion on the first chapter of our first book, The Emotional Craft of Fiction by Donald Maass. 

After our discussion on each book throughout the year, one of the group members will prepare a written book review for inclusion in the monthly Saturday Writers newsletter that is sent to our members.
