Billie Holladay Skelley
Billie Holladay Skelley earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Now retired from working as a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery clinical nurse specialist and nursing educator, she enjoys focusing on her writing.
Her writing crosses several different genres and has appeared in various journals, magazines, and anthologies in print and online—ranging from the American Journal of Nursing and Harvard Magazine to Chicken Soup for the Soul and the American Aviation Historical Society Journal.
Billie has written five books for children and teens: Eagle the Legal Beagle (Kids Book Press-2015), Luella Agnes Owen: Going Where No Lady Had Gone Before (Goldminds Publishing-2015), Ruth Law: The Queen of the Air (Goldminds Publishing-2016), Spice Secret: A Cautionary Diary (Goldminds Publishing-2017), and Ollie the Autism-Support Collie (LawMux Press-2018).
Her books have received Purple Dragonfly Book Awards, Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, a Royal Dragonfly Book Award, and the Outstanding Abuse Awareness Book Award in the Director’s Choice Awards of the 2017 Human Relations Indie Book Awards. Ruth Law: The Queen of the Air also received the 2017 Missouri Writers’ Guild First Place Award for Best Juvenile Book.
