John Marcum
John Marcum is a native of Missouri and graduated from St. Louis University in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Science.
He excelled in English composition but did not pursue writing until many years later. After graduating John worked in the steel industry as a salesman, and later he became a factory Rep. to local steel mills.
In 1985 John began fine art painting as a hobby. As he progressed he joined an artist guild and did some writing for their newsletter. Today he is still pursuing fine art painting and has a studio at an art gallery in Wood River, Illinois where he teaches monthly art classes.
John began writing memoir short stories from his youth as a hobby around 1986. Nearly twenty years late, after he retired, he finally assembled these stories in a book format and tried, unsuccessfully, to publish it.
John currently has several book ideas lurking in his computer files, but most are still in the outline stage. A few have made it thru the first few chapters, but none are completed.
In late 2017, John joined the Saturday Writer’s with the hope of fine tuning his writing and hopefully publishing some short stories. At some point he hopes to finally complete a book project—perhaps a book of memoirs.
